Shawnta Leftwich is a Western PA native, was raised in Los Angeles, California, and moved to Maryland as an adolescent. She is a proud graduate of Prince George’s County Public Schools, where she currently serves as an Assistant Principal.
She attended Morgan State University and received a Bachelor's degree in Political Science. Upon embarking on a legal career, she took a slight detour through education and fell in love with the aspect of building a better future through our youth. She then chose to get her Master's Degree in School Counseling at Bowie State University and has been a school counselor since 2013. Having innate leadership abilities, Shawnta pursued an advanced degree from Towson University in Organizational Leadership with the ultimate goal of moving into Educational Leadership.
She’s a member of two international honor societies and serves with numerous nonprofit and professional organizations. She recently received her Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) with plans to provide services to under-served communities in the near future. Above all else, Shawnta is most happy when she can help others.
Believe in yourself, learn, and never stop wanting to build a better world.
