
The Jamaur Law Foundation hosted the Second Annual “Splash Into Success” back-to-school celebration at Hampshire Neighborhood Pool in Waldorf, MD. The event brought together 150 local families—a 50% increase from the previous year—for a day of swimming, games, music, and giveaways, including 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to help students start the semester prepared and excited to learn.
With the support of Hampshire Neighborhood Association, Inc., generous sponsors, and dedicated volunteers, the event created a space for community connection, fun, and empowerment. Attendees also enjoyed interactive activities such as pool games and a golf simulator truck, while local partners helped provide meals, entertainment, and educational opportunities.
On July 27, 2025, we hosted the 3rd Annual Love & Peace Between The Lines Bookbag & School Supplies Giveaway at Bensville Park in White Plains, MD. Kids of all ages enjoyed a free basketball clinic, learning dribbling, shooting, and teamwork from expert instructors, while also receiving bookbags filled with school supplies, free gear, shoes, and a basketball to set them up for a successful year. The event celebrated community, learning, and the power of play, creating a memorable and impactful day for families in the area.
In July 2025, we partnered up with Maryland Express Tag & Title again to support local students in need by collecting essential school supplies for 100 students. Through this initiative, the community came together to provide notebooks, pencils, bookbags, folders, binders, and art supplies, giving students the tools and confidence to succeed in the classroom. This drive showcased the power of community support in equipping students for a successful school year and making a lasting impact on their education.
On June 27, 2025, the Jamaur Law Foundation partnered with Kids & Culture Camp during their Ethiopia’s Extraordinary Empire Cultural Week to host interactive Money Matters sessions for students ages 6–12.
Through hands-on activities with cash registers and ATMs, students learned key financial skills, including saving, budgeting, and understanding debit versus credit. The sessions also encouraged participants to think about future goals, careers, and long-term investments. The event combined cultural exploration with financial education, inspiring young minds and empowering them to build a bright financial future.
On June 25, 2025, in a special collaboration with the Jamaur Law Foundation, four Major League Fishing pros—Mike Becker, Mark Daniels Jr., Britt Myers, and Dean Rojas—spent the day engaging with youth and the community at the Charles County Waldorf West Library.
The pros shared insights into the financial journey of becoming professional anglers, participated in a Q&A session, and made time for autographs and photos. The event concluded with a raffle, where one lucky participant won a signed jersey from Japanese pro Takahiro Omori. This event combined mentorship, financial education, and inspiration, giving youth a firsthand look at pursuing their passions while making smart life and financial decisions.
On June 21, 2025, The District Cup returned to West Potomac Polo Park for its 8th edition, offering an unforgettable celebration of sport, culture, and community. Guests with VIP Tent passes and VIP Tables enjoyed an elevated experience with exclusive access, polo action, and a weekend filled with elegance and international flair.
In June 2025, students from Monument Academy enjoyed an inspiring day at The District Cup stables, joined by Charlie Muldoon of The District Cup and the Jamaur Law Foundation team. The visit combined horsemanship lessons with life skills, giving children hands-on experiences and opportunities to learn important values.
Through initiatives like this, the Jamaur Law Foundation aims to empower marginalized communities with financial education and holistic development. Starting with children as young as five, these programs nurture lifelong financial habits and informed decision-making, helping participants build confidence and success both on and off the field.
In November and December 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation partnered with Soles4Souls to bring joy, confidence, and opportunity to students across multiple schools in Maryland.
At Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer Elementary School in Waldorf and Hyattsville Elementary, hundreds of children received brand-new shoes and socks, helping to boost participation, physical activity, and self-esteem. At Thomas Stone High School, 30 ESOL students not only received shoes but also gained essential financial literacy lessons covering needs vs. wants, budgeting, and prioritizing what matters most.
These initiatives removed barriers while giving students the tools and confidence to thrive—both in and out of the classroom. Special thanks to Mrs. Amy Martinez and Mr. Leandro Pavon, Community School Coordinators, for helping make these experiences unforgettable for their students.
In December 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation partnered with Maryland Express Tag & Title to bring warmth and joy to local families during the holiday season. The community-wide drive collected food, toys, and clothing to support 20 families, ensuring they had a brighter holiday season. The drive focused on non-perishable food items, new unwrapped toys for all ages, and warm clothing, including coats, hats, and gloves.
On December 7 and 8, 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation partnered with The District Cup to support their mission of introducing polo to the BIPOC community and creating opportunities for all. This collaboration reflected our shared goal of breaking down barriers and fostering inclusion in sports and community activities.
On October 26, 2024, we hosted a Family Fun Day at Chick-fil-A Brandywine, creating a lively and engaging environment for families in the community. Guests enjoyed music, games, a moonbounce, and a special appearance by the Chick-fil-A Cow. Local businesses and organizations joined in to help bring the Brandywine community together for a day full of fun and connection.
Students in Jamaur’s fifth-grade program enjoyed a special visit from Nico, co-founder of The District Cup, an event sponsored by Events DC and in partnership with the Jamaur Law Foundation. Nico brought gifts and inspiration, sparking excitement and curiosity among the students.
They also visited Summerhill Polo Farm the week of October 14, 2024, where they learned about polo and had the chance to meet the horses. These experiences created lasting memories while encouraging learning, exploration, and a sense of community.
The Dragonflies Boys Mentoring Club kicked off its first meeting the weekend of October 5, 2024, bringing together boys in 3rd–5th grade for a day full of fun activities, new friendships, and valuable life lessons. The event set the stage for these young participants to grow into future leaders. A special thanks to Beyond The Classroom for helping launch the program and supporting our mission to empower young boys in the community. We meet every first Saturday of the month for two hours of impact.
On August 29, 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation hosted a Youth Financial Literacy Seminar at the Bladensburg Public Library. Designed for young adults, the seminar covered financial goal-setting, expense tracking, budgeting, saving, credit understanding, and navigating credit reports. Participants also engaged in discussions about broader financial topics and social issues, such as forced labor as a form of human trafficking. Attendees enjoyed a free dinner, giveaways, and gift cards while gaining practical skills to help build a strong financial foundation.
On August 22, 2024, we partnered up with Seafood Palace VA to host a special Back-to-School Giving event. With every purchase, community members received a free backpack filled with school supplies, helping local students start the school year prepared and excited. The event celebrated community support and connection, spreading appreciation and care throughout the neighborhood.
On August 9, 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation, in partnership with the Hampshire Neighborhood Association, hosted the 2nd Annual Splash Into Success Back-to-School Pool Party at the Hampshire Neighborhood Pool in Waldorf, MD. The event celebrated the start of the school year with a fun-filled evening designed to promote community engagement and support students as they prepared for academic success.
Families enjoyed swimming, water games, a golf simulator truck, music, entertainment, and free food and refreshments. Attendees also received school supplies to help kick off the new year. With 100 residents participating, 100 book bags distributed, and countless memories made, the event highlighted the power of community and collaboration.
From April through June 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation partnered with Saint Columba School to deliver the Smart Money Series, equipping 7th and 8th-grade students with essential financial literacy skills. Students explored budgeting, investing, and even participated in a simulated stock market competition through the SIFMA Foundation’s Stock Market Game, where 7th graders ranked 17th and 8th graders 22nd out of 135 schools.
Beyond the competition, students created real-world budgets and demonstrated remarkable academic growth, with average assessment scores rising from 54% to 74%. The program empowered students to build a strong foundation for financial independence and sustainable futures, and we are incredibly proud of their dedication and success.
On April 17, 2024, Good Intentions Inc., in partnership with the Jamaur Law Foundation, hosted the Second Annual Youth Financial Literacy Discussion at Joe’s Movement Emporium in Mt. Rainier, MD. The free event offered youth an engaging opportunity to learn about budgeting, wealth building, smart investing, and entrepreneurship from industry leaders.
Jamaur Law emphasized the importance of “passing the baton,” reminding participants that financial knowledge is a tool to build wealth early and set the next generation up for success. Attendees also enjoyed exciting giveaways, including a brand-new laptop raffle, and learned about scholarship opportunities and special offers from FedChoice Federal Credit Union. The event aimed to equip young participants with the skills and insights needed to confidently manage their finances and invest in their future.
From March 24–31, 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation hosted its first-ever Empowering Communities Silent Auction. Supporters had the opportunity to bid on exclusive items while directly funding the Foundation’s programs, community events, scholarships, and more. The event provided a fun and engaging way for the community to make a meaningful impact and support initiatives that empower local youth and families.
In March 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation partnered with Ebenezer AME Church’s Youth Ministry to host an engaging financial literacy workshop. The session focused on the importance of saving early, creating healthy budgeting habits, and exploring investment opportunities such as Roth IRAs and Maryland 529 Plans for future education expenses. Families were encouraged to open accounts for their children, develop savings practices at home, and make money conversations a regular part of family life. Together, we worked to instill strong financial values that will empower youth to build a secure future.
On February 18, 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation hosted Glide Into 2024 With Smart Money at Tucker Road Ice Skating Rink in Fort Washington, MD. Sponsored by Boeing and Raising Cane’s (Forestville, MD), this engaging event combined financial literacy with family fun.
Middle and high school students, along with their guardians, participated in a dedicated Smart Money workshop covering key topics like reading a paycheck, budgeting, saving, and investing. Afterward, families enjoyed lunch, open ice skating, and the chance to win exciting prizes.
On January 15, 2024 (MLK Day), the Jamaur Law Foundation partnered with Hoyt King and the National Honor Society members at DC International School in Washington, D.C., to host a compassionate clothing drive. Together, we turned a vision of change into action—collecting garments to support those in need and honoring Dr. King’s legacy of service and community care.
We were thrilled to partner with The District Cup on September 30th for an unforgettable charity polo match on the National Mall! The event brought together friends, families, and polo enthusiasts for a day of exciting competition, heart-pumping action, and fun, all while supporting a great cause. Proceeds from ticket and sponsorship sales benefited the Foundation, helping to make a meaningful impact.
On August 26, 2023, we partnered with Flavors Commercial Kitchen to host a unique, life-changing restaurant experience for families in our community. Adults participated in engaging financial literacy sessions led by our team, while youth joined a hands-on culinary class from Briejai's Bites & Delights, learning kitchen safety, safe knife skills, and food preparation and plating.
Families enjoyed a specially prepared 4-course meal by Chef Aliyah and her team, with each child contributing by preparing an appetizer for their own family. This exclusive, invite-only event offered a meaningful blend of learning, creativity, and family connection.
On July 15, 2023, we partnered with The District Cup for a spectacular sunset polo experience at Summerhill Polo Club in Poolesville, MD. Families and friends packed picnics and enjoyed a day of thrilling polo action, fun activities, and quality time together. The event supported the 2023 District Cup and the Jamaur Law Foundation, with proceeds from ticket and sponsorship sales benefiting the Foundation.
On July 11, 2023, the Jamaur Law Foundation participated in the Girls Inc. Leadership & Empowerment Camp at Elizabeth Seton High School, focusing on developing leadership skills for girls in 7th–9th grade. Campers engaged in a variety of morning activities centered on the week’s leadership theme, and also participated in a financial literacy workshop led by the Foundation.
Throughout June 29, July 6, July 13, and July 20, 2023, the Jamaur Law Foundation partnered with Community Youth Advance (CYA) to support mentoring programs for boys and girls in grades 6–12 in Prince George’s County, Maryland. CYA focuses on teaching, reaching, and keeping youth on the path to success through academic enrichment, mentorship, and post-secondary pathways support.
In March and April 2023, we had the opportunity to partner with Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas to host a youth Smart Money workshop series!
In the workshop series, youth participants learned about financial literacy! This training series covered the basics of money management, including setting financial goals and tracking expenses, budgeting and saving, credit and compound interest, and credit reports.
Throughout March and April 2023, we partnered with Leidos and Project Veteran House to host our “Go Veterans for Financial Literacy” workshop series!
The goal of this program was to provide effective programming for veterans who are entering or have entered back into society. Through instruction, veterans were taught about managing debt, creating budgets and savings goals, understanding how credit works, and many more finance-related topics.
Our first event of the year, "Glide Into 2023 with Smart Money," was a major success! On February 4, 2023, we collaborated with Spectra Credit Union to host a free event designed to teach underserved youth and young adults about financial literacy concepts like budgeting, checking & savings, the power of credit, and investing.
Spectra Credit Union kicked off the event with a generous donation of $2,000 to support the Foundation’s financial literacy programming, and we could not be more grateful!
When Xan McGivney, VP, Senior Digital Experience Manager for IM, heard about the Jamaur Law Foundation and their need for volunteers, she was immediately intrigued. The organization’s mission directly aligns with Voya’s Purpose and she knew that her skills could help the nonprofit further its mission, while bringing Voya’s Purpose to life in the community.
Launched in 2018 by Jamaur Law, a teacher at Monument Academy Public Charter School in Washington, DC, the Foundation was founded to create opportunities for low- and moderate-income individuals in the greater DC region to build financial security, savings and wealth for the future.
Voya collaborated with the Foundation as part of the company’s new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion skills-based volunteer program that pairs volunteers with nonprofit organizations that serve diverse communities, based on their needs and a volunteer’s specific talent and skillset.
Xan and other volunteers worked with the Jamaur Law Foundation to review, edit and update the nonprofit’s website and move it to a new more robust platform to reach more people. Additionally, the team created brand guidelines for theFoundation, developed a marketing and fundraising strategy and refined all written materials including proposals, scholarship and sponsorship documents, emails templates, bios and more.
On October 29, 2022, we partnered with Chick-Fil-A of Brandywine, MD, for our first community “Trunk or Treat” event!
Chick-fil-A of Brandywine supplied treats, hay bales, pumpkin painting, a bounce house, games, and face painting for the event. At the event, we filled up a savings jar with candy and gave the adults helpful tips regarding financial literacy.
On September 25, 2022, the Jamaur Law Foundation was one of three recipients to receive charitable donations from The District Cup, an annual philanthropic polo match and social event on The National Mall in Washington, DC. The District Cup is a tradition dating back over 100 years committed to the inclusivity and representation of every community in metropolitan Washington, DC.
In November 2021, the Foundation partnered with Many Hats Institute and Summer Hill Polo Farm in Poolesville, MD, to provide a one-of-a-kind experience!
From October through December of 2021, the Foundation partnered with Eric Bruner-Yang, owner of the Power of 10 Initiative, to deliver free meals to families in a financial crisis.
During the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation donated hundreds of protective face shields to local urgent care workers with the help of Sam's Club of Waldorf, MD. These workers tested more than 1,000 patients a week.
