
In June, our 5th graders from Monument Academy spent the day at Summerhill Polo Farm, learning from former professional polo player and umpire Charlie Muldoon. For many students, this was their first time seeing a polo field, meeting horses up close, or learning about a sport that has historically been out of reach for many communities.
In May, the Jamaur Law Foundation partnered with the Charles County Public Library - Waldorf Branch for an unforgettable S.M.A.R.T. Money experience where youth learned financial literacy in the most creative way possible—by designing, marketing, and selling their own shoes. We also had Janine Horne from Zen Well Health provide valuable health and behavioral health resources from the Charles County Department of Health to families throughout the event. Special thanks to Dunkin' Donuts for blessing participants with 24oz cups and gift cards! And, of course, thank you to Soles4Souls for the continued support!
The Lady Saddlers Club teamed up with the Jamaur Law Foundation in May to host a Career & Confidence Experience designed for ladies ages 14-16 tohelp turn ideas and dreams into real plans for the future.
For Financial Literacy Month, we had the opportunity to step into the Butterflies After School Program at Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer Elementary School, hosted by Beyond the Classroom, and bring entrepreneurship to life. Young entrepreneurs built their own businesses from scratch (ice cream & pizza concepts, mobile trucks to maximize profits, set prices + calculated profit margins, chose locations + created business names, and developed marketing & promotion strategies). The event wasn't about just teaching—it was about building the next generation of entrepreneurs.
In January, the Jamaur Law Foundation hosted a night empowering students and families with real-world money skills that matter. From breakout sessions to prizes, fresh food, and meaningful conversations—this was community in action. Huge thank you to Spectra Credit Union, Maryland Department of Labor — American Job Center, and MedStar Health for supporting this amazing night!
This initiative provided students with meaningful opportunities to honor Dr. King’s mission and values through service, specifically by supporting an off-campus nonprofit or community organization with tasks like indoor cleanup, organizing, or other helpful activities.
In January, our Executive Director Jamaur Law, went on a trip of a lifetime to Guatemala with our partner Soles4Souls. In Antigua, Guatemala, Jamaur was a part of an impactful initiative of giving out nearly 800 pairs of shoes to children in the area and planting seeds of kindess that will last a lifetime. Jamaur created unforgettable memories and even had the chance to climb Volcán Pacaya. We're so proud that the Jamaur Law Foundation could be a part of it!
During the 2025 holiday season, the Jamaur Law Foundation and Maryland Tag & Title joined forces for the second year in a row to make a difference in the lives of 20 local families! This year, donors could choose to "adopt" a local family, allowing for direct impact for local parents & children. The generous donations collected brought warmth and joy to those in need.
On November 11, 2025, the Jamaur Law Foundation partnered with Oxon Hill Middle School and Community Schools Coordinator Sandra Powell to host this incredible event! Families enjoyed dinner, 100 boxes of fresh produce, and real conversations about budgeting, needs vs. wants, setting realistic goals & saying "no" to wasteful spending, and breaking bad money habits. Thank you to our amazing partners from Industrial Bank for leading the "savings" movement: Jacqueline McSears Boles (SVP, Director of Retail Banking & Branch Manager) and VP Aster Tekle, Oxon Hill Branch Manager.
The Jamaur Law Foundation hosted the Second Annual “Splash Into Success” back-to-school celebration at Hampshire Neighborhood Pool in Waldorf, MD. The event brought together 150 local families—a 50% increase from the previous year—for a day of swimming, games, music, and giveaways, including 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to help students start the semester prepared and excited to learn.
With the support of Hampshire Neighborhood Association, Inc., generous sponsors, and dedicated volunteers, the event created a space for community connection, fun, and empowerment. Attendees also enjoyed interactive activities such as pool games and a golf simulator truck, while local partners helped provide meals, entertainment, and educational opportunities.
On July 27, 2025, we hosted the 3rd Annual Love & Peace Between The Lines Bookbag & School Supplies Giveaway at Bensville Park in White Plains, MD. Kids of all ages enjoyed a free basketball clinic, learning dribbling, shooting, and teamwork from expert instructors, while also receiving bookbags filled with school supplies, free gear, shoes, and a basketball to set them up for a successful year. The event celebrated community, learning, and the power of play, creating a memorable and impactful day for families in the area.
In July 2025, we partnered up with Maryland Express Tag & Title again to support local students in need by collecting essential school supplies for 100 students. Through this initiative, the community came together to provide notebooks, pencils, bookbags, folders, binders, and art supplies, giving students the tools and confidence to succeed in the classroom. This drive showcased the power of community support in equipping students for a successful school year and making a lasting impact on their education.
On June 27, 2025, the Jamaur Law Foundation partnered with Kids & Culture Camp during their Ethiopia’s Extraordinary Empire Cultural Week to host interactive Money Matters sessions for students ages 6–12.
Through hands-on activities with cash registers and ATMs, students learned key financial skills, including saving, budgeting, and understanding debit versus credit. The sessions also encouraged participants to think about future goals, careers, and long-term investments. The event combined cultural exploration with financial education, inspiring young minds and empowering them to build a bright financial future.
On June 25, 2025, in a special collaboration with the Jamaur Law Foundation, four Major League Fishing pros—Mike Becker, Mark Daniels Jr., Britt Myers, and Dean Rojas—spent the day engaging with youth and the community at the Charles County Waldorf West Library.
The pros shared insights into the financial journey of becoming professional anglers, participated in a Q&A session, and made time for autographs and photos. The event concluded with a raffle, where one lucky participant won a signed jersey from Japanese pro Takahiro Omori. This event combined mentorship, financial education, and inspiration, giving youth a firsthand look at pursuing their passions while making smart life and financial decisions.
On June 21, 2025, The District Cup returned to West Potomac Polo Park for its 8th edition, offering an unforgettable celebration of sport, culture, and community. Guests with VIP Tent passes and VIP Tables enjoyed an elevated experience with exclusive access, polo action, and a weekend filled with elegance and international flair.

The visit combined horsemanship lessons with life skills, giving children hands-on experiences and opportunities to learn important values.
Through initiatives like this, the Jamaur Law Foundation aims to empower marginalized communities with financial education and holistic development. Starting with children as young as five, these programs nurture lifelong financial habits and informed decision-making, helping participants build confidence and success both on and off the field.
In November and December 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation partnered with Soles4Souls to bring joy, confidence, and opportunity to students across multiple schools in Maryland.
At Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer Elementary School in Waldorf and Hyattsville Elementary, hundreds of children received brand-new shoes and socks, helping to boost participation, physical activity, and self-esteem. At Thomas Stone High School, 30 ESOL students not only received shoes but also gained essential financial literacy lessons covering needs vs. wants, budgeting, and prioritizing what matters most.
These initiatives removed barriers while giving students the tools and confidence to thrive—both in and out of the classroom. Special thanks to Mrs. Amy Martinez and Mr. Leandro Pavon, Community School Coordinators, for helping make these experiences unforgettable for their students.
In December 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation partnered with Maryland Express Tag & Title to bring warmth and joy to local families during the holiday season. The community-wide drive collected food, toys, and clothing to support 20 families, ensuring they had a brighter holiday season. The drive focused on non-perishable food items, new unwrapped toys for all ages, and warm clothing, including coats, hats, and gloves.
On December 7 and 8, 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation partnered with The District Cup to support their mission of introducing polo to the BIPOC community and creating opportunities for all. This collaboration reflected our shared goal of breaking down barriers and fostering inclusion in sports and community activities.
On October 26, 2024, we hosted a Family Fun Day at Chick-fil-A Brandywine, creating a lively and engaging environment for families in the community. Guests enjoyed music, games, a moonbounce, and a special appearance by the Chick-fil-A Cow. Local businesses and organizations joined in to help bring the Brandywine community together for a day full of fun and connection.
Students in Jamaur’s fifth-grade program enjoyed a special visit from Nico, co-founder of The District Cup, an event sponsored by Events DC and in partnership with the Jamaur Law Foundation. Nico brought gifts and inspiration, sparking excitement and curiosity among the students.
They also visited Summerhill Polo Farm the week of October 14, 2024, where they learned about polo and had the chance to meet the horses. These experiences created lasting memories while encouraging learning, exploration, and a sense of community.
The Dragonflies Boys Mentoring Club kicked off its first meeting the weekend of October 5, 2024, bringing together boys in 3rd–5th grade for a day full of fun activities, new friendships, and valuable life lessons. The event set the stage for these young participants to grow into future leaders. A special thanks to Beyond The Classroom for helping launch the program and supporting our mission to empower young boys in the community. We meet every first Saturday of the month for two hours of impact.
On August 29, 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation hosted a Youth Financial Literacy Seminar at the Bladensburg Public Library. Designed for young adults, the seminar covered financial goal-setting, expense tracking, budgeting, saving, credit understanding, and navigating credit reports. Participants also engaged in discussions about broader financial topics and social issues, such as forced labor as a form of human trafficking. Attendees enjoyed a free dinner, giveaways, and gift cards while gaining practical skills to help build a strong financial foundation.
On August 22, 2024, we partnered up with Seafood Palace VA to host a special Back-to-School Giving event. With every purchase, community members received a free backpack filled with school supplies, helping local students start the school year prepared and excited. The event celebrated community support and connection, spreading appreciation and care throughout the neighborhood.
On August 9, 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation, in partnership with the Hampshire Neighborhood Association, hosted the 2nd Annual Splash Into Success Back-to-School Pool Party at the Hampshire Neighborhood Pool in Waldorf, MD. The event celebrated the start of the school year with a fun-filled evening designed to promote community engagement and support students as they prepared for academic success.
Families enjoyed swimming, water games, a golf simulator truck, music, entertainment, and free food and refreshments. Attendees also received school supplies to help kick off the new year. With 100 residents participating, 100 book bags distributed, and countless memories made, the event highlighted the power of community and collaboration.
From April through June 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation partnered with Saint Columba School to deliver the Smart Money Series, equipping 7th and 8th-grade students with essential financial literacy skills. Students explored budgeting, investing, and even participated in a simulated stock market competition through the SIFMA Foundation’s Stock Market Game, where 7th graders ranked 17th and 8th graders 22nd out of 135 schools.
Beyond the competition, students created real-world budgets and demonstrated remarkable academic growth, with average assessment scores rising from 54% to 74%. The program empowered students to build a strong foundation for financial independence and sustainable futures, and we are incredibly proud of their dedication and success.
On April 17, 2024, Good Intentions Inc., in partnership with the Jamaur Law Foundation, hosted the Second Annual Youth Financial Literacy Discussion at Joe’s Movement Emporium in Mt. Rainier, MD. The free event offered youth an engaging opportunity to learn about budgeting, wealth building, smart investing, and entrepreneurship from industry leaders.
Jamaur Law emphasized the importance of “passing the baton,” reminding participants that financial knowledge is a tool to build wealth early and set the next generation up for success. Attendees also enjoyed exciting giveaways, including a brand-new laptop raffle, and learned about scholarship opportunities and special offers from FedChoice Federal Credit Union. The event aimed to equip young participants with the skills and insights needed to confidently manage their finances and invest in their future.
From March 24–31, 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation hosted its first-ever Empowering Communities Silent Auction. Supporters had the opportunity to bid on exclusive items while directly funding the Foundation’s programs, community events, scholarships, and more. The event provided a fun and engaging way for the community to make a meaningful impact and support initiatives that empower local youth and families.
In March 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation partnered with Ebenezer AME Church’s Youth Ministry to host an engaging financial literacy workshop. The session focused on the importance of saving early, creating healthy budgeting habits, and exploring investment opportunities such as Roth IRAs and Maryland 529 Plans for future education expenses. Families were encouraged to open accounts for their children, develop savings practices at home, and make money conversations a regular part of family life. Together, we worked to instill strong financial values that will empower youth to build a secure future.
On February 18, 2024, the Jamaur Law Foundation hosted Glide Into 2024 With Smart Money at Tucker Road Ice Skating Rink in Fort Washington, MD. Sponsored by Boeing and Raising Cane’s (Forestville, MD), this engaging event combined financial literacy with family fun.
Middle and high school students, along with their guardians, participated in a dedicated Smart Money workshop covering key topics like reading a paycheck, budgeting, saving, and investing. Afterward, families enjoyed lunch, open ice skating, and the chance to win exciting prizes.
On January 15, 2024 (MLK Day), the Jamaur Law Foundation partnered with Hoyt King and the National Honor Society members at DC International School in Washington, D.C., to host a compassionate clothing drive. Together, we turned a vision of change into action—collecting garments to support those in need and honoring Dr. King’s legacy of service and community care.
