This year, the Jamaur Law Foundation Inc. took a giant step forward in our mission to break the cycle of poverty by partnering with Soles4Souls. Imagine a child who has never owned a new pair of shoes suddenly beaming with pride as they lace up their very own sneakers. Each Fall and Spring, thanks to this incredible partnership, that dream became a reality for 250 students!
Soles4Souls generously supplies us with hundreds of pairs of shoes and socks, allowing us to expand our impact and provide not just financial literacy but also essential footwear to children in need.
Our "Walking Towards a Brighter Future" program partners with schools to identify students facing economic hardship, including those under the McKinney-Vento Act. We then bring the excitement to them with a fun, interactive financial literacy workshop led by our amazing Dragonflies Mentoring Club (3rd-5th grade boys). These young leaders guide their peers through budgeting basics and smart spending choices, culminating in a mock "shopping trip" at a local shoe store.
But the real magic happens when each child receives a brand new pair of shoes and socks. You can see the transformation in their eyes – a boost of confidence, a sense of belonging, and the knowledge that someone cares.
Confidence Soars: New shoes help children feel good about themselves, ready to face the world with a newfound spring in their step.
Attendance Rises: Proper footwear means fewer absences due to discomfort or embarrassment, leading to more opportunities to learn and thrive.
Health Improves: Comfortable shoes encourage physical activity and participation in sports and play, promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Community Strengthens: Our workshops bring together students, educators, and community organizations, creating a powerful network of support for our children.
